Summary

RATING: R for language, some disturbing images and brief teen drug and alcohol use

Starring Erik Thomson, Geena Davis, Harrison Gilbertson, Harry Cook, and Joel Tobeck

Gloria Conway is the sharp-tongued mom in this darkly comic story of a family strangely cursed with a streak of bad luck. But as life takes unexpected detours, Gloria manages to tear apart her pain to find the humor in even the toughest things that happen to her. When her teenage son Billy uncharacteristically lets off some steam in a series of scandalous pranks, the tragic results are something no one could have predicted. But with the love of his family and some unexpected help, Billy sees the magic behind life’s oddest accidents. (Image Entertainment)

Variety Justin Chang

Andrew Lancaster's helming bow looks smart but lacks confidence in its melodrama and, professional editing aside, resembles a meandering rough cut.

Jon W. gave it an8:
Obviously I watched a different movie than the low scoring Reporter. I was very impressed with this dark comedy. Geena Davis was amazing, and the rest of the cast top notch. Humor and pathos artfully combined. Sure it's wacky and convoluted, but thumbs up from me.
